Health Insurance: How to get help with Covered California application and renewals?

Were you ever on the phone with customer service rep of a health insurance company? If so, then probably you've experienced the following scenarios.

You wait for an hour or so -on the phone; the customer service representative picks up the phone (finally) and you have to verify your name, date of birth, address, policy number, etc.
Then, you have to explain the reason why you are calling. After all of the information has been provided, the representative says that he/she can’t help you and transfers you to a “different department” or another representative
You are being transferred to a “different department” and provide the same information again (oh, boy again?!) explain your situation and they say that they are not handling this type of requests, and you are being transferred again to someone else. (ouch!)

Now, you really pray that a more competent representative will pick up the phone….
You are transferred to a “supervisor” who asks you to explain again what your situation is.
At this point, you really get angry…. (you’ve explained your issue to everyone a few times already, and now you have to do it again!)
The new representative or supervisor, doesn’t do much… then reads you the information that you already know.
Oh, no!
Now, you throw away the phone and do the same thing by email or postal mail. Or go for a walk.
You wait forever for an update…

Many of our clients approached us after dealing on their own with the “customer service” ordeal. I hope that not everyone experienced the above scenario, but if you did, or would like to avoid the above, we are kindly suggesting that you work with an agent or broker that knows what “buttons to press” and what questions to ask when helping you with any health insurance issues you might have. Agents do not charge a fee for this service. They are paid a small commission (and your monthly premium is the same, whether you work with an agent or work directly with an insurance company).
